In assisting the USC research community in complying with the variety of rules and regulations associated with the conduct of sponsored research, the Office of Compliance engages in the following activities:
* We act as a resource to answer queries regarding the rules, regulations, and USC policies applicable to research, both generally, and within specific disciplines and related to specific sponsors.
* We proactively identify and analyze rules and regulations promulgated on both the state and federal levels that apply to the conduct of research.
* We provide assistance to researchers, schools, and the university as a whole in assessing gaps and risks that may exist regarding compliance with rules, regulations and other requirements related to the conduct of research.
* We work to develop strategic initiatives with researchers, schools and the university as a whole to raise awareness of research compliance risks.
* We monitor implementation of policies and procedures developed to meet regulatory risks and requirements.
* We provide a means for any member of the university to bring allegations of wrongdoing related to the conduct of research, and conduct and/or participate in investigations as appropriate into such allegations.
