USC Office of Compliance

2010 Ethical Leadership Award Recipients

In recognition of Corporate Compliance and Ethics week, the university launched a new award: The USC Ethical Leadership Award. This is an award that seeks to recognize individuals who embrace the very spirit of USC's Code of Ethics and who work to integrate the elements of the USC Compliance and Ethics Program into the work that they lead at the university.

This year's award is presented to two individuals who have led the implementation of the USC Compliance and Ethics Program within the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry. Together they have raised awareness within the school of the importance of compliance. Specifically, they have introduced and implemented: a school-wide system of credentialing for their dental providers; new policies and procedures in the areas of billing and clinical services; school-wide compliance education; and a new committee structure to best support all of these new activities.

And although the Office of Compliance has sought to be their partner, it has been through their ethical leadership that this impressive program has come alive within the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry.

In recognition of their outstanding leadership and commitment to the spirit and principles of the USC Compliance and Ethics Program, it is with great appreciation that the university Office of Compliance and Ethics honors Dr. Sigmund Abelson, dean of clinical affairs and Ms. Ruby Hinds, Health Compliance Program director.
